Five Sayings

They have been driving me nuts

Did I mention that already

I don't like any of these

This is an emergency

 I don't know if you can help me

An employee at the local shopping center stands behind a desk, littered with discarded clothing. She is folding the clothes with great urgency, trying to clear the desk. Her efforts seem to be in vain as more customers exit the fitting rooms from behind her, discarding them onto her steadily growing pile. She sigh an irrated sigh as a fellow employee approaches.

Employee 1

“They have been driving me crazy”

Second employee

“I KNOW”

As the second employee finished her statement, a group of girls exited the fitting room, all with handful of clothes. The stop and look at the first employee.

“I don't like any of these”

The group of girls, one by one, piled the clothes on the desk. Employee on sighs as she begins to wish the day would go by sooner. As she begins to fold some of the clothes on the desk, the phone on the desk begins to ring. The second employee answers it with the stores required greeting and waits for the caller to speak.

Caller

“This is an emergency, I don’t know if you can help me...”

The employees exchange looks as they both realize that today was going to a long day.

“What can I help you with?

This is a picture of my dad. I think that it would be interesting to be do a documentary on him because of him suffering from two strokes many years ago.

This is a picture of my sister and I think it would be interesting to do a documentary on her because she has Asperger’s syndrome and it would be interesting to get her perspective.

This is a picture of my brother and I think that he would be an interesting subject because he is a vise president of a company and i think that it would be interesting to see that at work.

Emotions

The emotion that I decided on was irritation/frustration. I wanted to show more of the irritability to the emotion.  I came up with this emotion when i was randomly taking a picture of my dog, the last picture, and thought that she looked kind of irritated.

Brainstorming Day 6

Another idea for a video would be something that would be interesting to do would be a darker piece. I would want it to maybe be a ghost story. I would probably want to use a house with a little bit if character. I am not sure of the exact story but i can visibly image the ending scene. The video would obviously rely on your imagination for it to work.  I would want it to focus on a few characters.I don't know if i would have dialogue but rather rely on the images to tell the story.

Brainstorming Day 5

One video that I could do would be a documentary would be on strokes and their victims. My father has suffered two strokes in his life and I could use this to help raise awareness and also learn more of the scientific aspects that go into having a stroke. I would be able to interview my family members and maybe even include some old home video footage prior to his strokes.

Brainstorming Day 4

One idea is to do a video that is a documentary on how autism and the insight that those who know someone affected by the disorder. I could do this due to know quite a few individuals who have children who are suffering from it and live with it on a daily basis.

Brainstorming Day 3

 One idea that I have and would really like to do is a video that deals with how you see a person versus how they see themselves. Now I am not sure what style I would want to do it in, but I think it would be a neat idea. I think that it would interesting to do for a narrative piece, however I am still unsure exactly how I would want it to play out.

Brainstorming Day 2

 One idea that I have thought of is to do one that would chronicle my mother and be almost an interview showing her cooking a family recipe. I also thought that maybe I could mix it up between a demonstration and an interview-based video.  I would like to do this video as a way to maybe ask questions about how she learned to cook and the different influences, like my Grandmother who owned a restaurant. Again I am not sure if this would be a video i would make, but if i did i would be using my mother and not an actor. I could also incorporate other family members and it could be a large collaboration of family memories and cooking.

Brainstorming Day 1

One idea that I thought of was one that would follow the day of my dogs. I know this sounds odd, but I thought that it would be interesting to take the point of view of them as I leave for the morning and then follow them till I get home. I would want the narrative to chronicle the day in a humorous way. This idea came about because of the fact that I have a dog that suffers from separation anxiety and I think that adding a humor, sense she a rather clumsy dog, to her experience would be a good way to tell a story. I would defiantly want to add subtle humor to the narrative, ranging from the pesky squirrels that roam the back yard to the flies that she is always jumpy around.  I am not sure if I would do this piece, but if fleshed out I think that it could be humorous piece.

Introduction

Hello! My name is Amanda Matafin. I am usually a rather quiet individual. I have two dogs, a Beagle and a Beagle and Daschund mix. Daisy is the Beagle and Daschund mix shown in the picture.

On the topic of media I tend to prefer television shows to movies. I tend to watch more Fantasy shows. Some of my favorite shows are Merlin, Dr. Who, and The Walking Dead. My favorite movie is The Princess Bride. This movie is my favorite due to the childhood memories that it holds. This is the movie that I would always watch at my grandmother’s house prior to her passing. That being said I own quite a few copies of this movie and have watched it more than I would care to admit.

I have an interest in media, as I love how it allows one to express themselves through the creation process. I love the creative aspect and the way that it takes all the smaller pieces to create an other worldly experience,and that when done right the finished product carries the viewer of the media to somewhere else entirely.
